Find out what’s been happening the first week of July on the Farm! Potato harvesting is a critical time for us at Nine Tines, and this year has brought its own set of challenges. After experiencing difficult growing conditions last year, we find ourselves facing similar issues this season.
Fighting blight in damp conditions
One of our biggest enemies in potato farming is a fungal disease called blight. This disease thrives in damp conditions, and unfortunately, the current weather has been very favourable for its spread.
Continuous crop walking and monitoring are essential at this time of year to manage and mitigate the impact of blight on our crops. It’s a labour-intensive process, but crucial for ensuring the health and quality of our potatoes.
Potential despite delays
Despite these challenges, our crops look full of potential. However, the delayed planting period due to less than favourable weather conditions in the spring has led to the crops being behind schedule. This delay can affect the overall yield and quality, but we remain hopeful. With diligent care and monitoring, we aim to bring out the best in our harvest.
Commitment to quality
Our commitment to quality is unwavering. Every step, from planting to harvesting, is meticulously managed to ensure that our potatoes meet the high standards required for making Nine Tines vodka. The current conditions may be challenging, but our dedication to producing premium vodka drives us to overcome these obstacles.
Looking ahead
As we continue through the growing season, we remain optimistic. The potential within our fields is promising, and with careful attention, we aim to have a successful harvest. We’re grateful for the dedication of our team and the resilience of our crops.
Stay tuned for more updates as we progress through the harvesting season. Thank you for your continued support of Nine Tines vodka.
